This card was issued in Germany by
Haus
Bergmann Zigarettenfabrik in 1933. It is card number 7 from a set of 10 cards entitled
"Hunde aus aller Welt (Dogs of the World)". The front of the card shows a
colored caricature (signed) of the Italian Greyhound drawn by the famous artist Walter
Trier (Trier fled from Germany to Canada prior to WW2 where he also became very well
known)
while the back of the card has the card number
the title and a brief description
in German. The card was given as a free premium with the purchase of cigarettes. This card
was intended to be mounted in a special album and the cards are usually found pasted down
or with a glue residue on the card. It is therefore difficult to obtain cards like this
one which is in highly collectible condition and has never been mounted in an album. |
Postage and packing is US$1.50
for any number of cards!! |
