This card was issued by John Player and Sons in 1929 in the UK and also in New Zealand in
1927. It is from a set of
cards entitled "Dogs
by Wardle (Heads)". The card was given as a free premium and inserted
into a packet of 10
Player's Cigarettes. The front of the card shows a picture of the Newfoundland from the
drawings of the famous dog
artist Arthur Wardle
while the back of the card has a brief description of this breed.
